In the highest poverty

Entering into the mystery of Christ who "was rich and became poor for us", Clare and the sisters chose to live without property, to be pilgrims and strangers in this world, abandoning themselves to the only surety, which is the providence of the Father.

Poverty teaches us to respect created things, to carefully use the resources of the earth, to have a sensitivity for the poor and marginalized. This is expressed in concrete decisions taking into account solidarity and the equitable distribution of wealth.

The experience of this "highest poverty" makes us joyful and humble in our everyday work, minor (lesser), and servants of all, happy to have God alone.

Embracing the "highest poverty", we experience abandonment into the hands of the Father and learning to recognize that everything is a gift from Him, we open ourselves wide to gratitude and discover in Christ our only true wealth.
